Turbulence combines textile design, sculpture and performance art into a direct reaction to the city of Tianjin, China. Influenced by the cultural displacement of the city a large scale knot was inspired directly by the traditional chinese Pan-Chang knot. The rope was then transformed into a umbilical like form which was placed through a dense tunnel- picked due to the immense turbulent flow of the direct pedestrian interaction and the surrounding railways, roads and bridges. All filmed at the start of early morning peak hour in this dense location of Tian Jin city. The materials include found materials from the streets of the city- foam sheets, felt, tarps and vegetable sacks.
