GRANDMOTHERS
AGAINST REMOVALS

Grandmothers Against Removals (GMAR) was formed in January 2014 to raise awareness about the removal processes used by the NSW Department of Children’s Services. As a collaborative volunteer designer for this action group, I contributed to the visual layout of the logo and designed the flyer for the Werribee information session.

The logo features an illustration by respected elder Aunty Linda from the Noongyar tribe in Western Australia. It symbolizes family members and children currently separated in out-of-home care. The feet around the edge represent the struggle of many Aboriginal families to reunite children and grandchildren with their families, communities, and cultural connections.
