GRANDMOTHERS
AGAINST REMOVALS

Grandmothers Against Removals (GMAR) was formed in January 2014 to raise awareness about the removal processes used by the NSW Department of Children’s Services. As a collaborative volunteer designer for this action group, I contributed to the visual layout of the logo and designed the flyer for the Werribee information session.

​

The logo features an illustration by respected elder Aunty Linda from the Noongyar tribe in Western Australia. It symbolizes family members and children currently separated in out-of-home care. The feet around the edge represent the struggle of many Aboriginal families to reunite children and grandchildren with their families, communities, and cultural connections.
